Top 4 Books For Investing In Stock Markets

After many research, recommendations and suggestions and of course reading, I’ve found 4 great but simple books to gain knowledge on how to invest in stock markets. These books are information rich and provide great insight into the world of investing.

These books are intended for the following persons:

1. People who have no idea about the stock markets, how they work, how markets create wealth, how someone can get rich in the stock market, what are the risks / advantages, how to get started, etc.

2. People who fear the stock markets because they believe it’s risky.

3. People who are looking to broaden their perspective when it comes to various investments – Fixed deposits, real estate, gold, commodities, mutual funds, equities, etc.

4. People who have issues with money management (spendthrifts) and those who harbour erroneous beliefs about money (money is evil, money is hard to earn, etc.).

5. People who think it takes a lot of money to get started.

The wisdom in these books is priceless and will stay with you for a LIFETIME.

  2. M an advocate. D article seems intresting bt anyone plz tell me wht is d procedure 2 open D-Mat account n wht’s d use of it? I hv bank account, isn’t tht is sufficient? N lastly frm where did I gt d basic knowledge abt share mrkt, trading, etc. Thx a lot :)

    • In addition to a savings bank account, you’ll need a demat account and a trading account. You can open both of these accounts at any brokerage firms like ShareKhan, IndiaBulls etc. Some banks like SBI and ICICI too offer these services. Visit your branch and they’ll guide you.

About your last question, many people think that one needs to know about all the financial terms before starting trading in stock markets. Going for these will waste your precious time. I strongly suggest you go ahead and open the two accounts and then you’ll learn automatically and most easily (believe me!). There is only one concept you need to learn and that is “To make profit, buy low and sell high”.

Still if you have some little doubts in your mind, buy the book “Invest the Happionaire Way” by Yogesh Chabria.

      Thanks for asking.

  3. “The small stock trader” by Mika is also a small unique book that covers almost all the major stock market topics such as the traits of a successful small stock trader, how to choose a few simple focus stocks, market sentiment and industry, fundamental analysis, technical analysis, short selling, your edge and competition, catalysts that move the stock prices, stock trading plan, discipline, risk management and psychology. It is a simple book of about 100 small-sized pages (more like a collection of tips, perhaps 4-5 hours read), but it will answer many of your questions, so, it is a great book to start (no need to mention that about 90% of your lessons you are going to learn from your own experience/mistakes). It is also a fun-to-read book, as it is accompanied by a few jokes and observations from poker, intelligence world, relationships, happiness, Zen, and psychology.

  4. My favorite stock trading books are:

    • The small stock trader by Mika
    • “Lessons from the greatest stock traders of all time” and “How legendary traders made millions” both by John Boik
    • “Reminiscences of a stock operator” and “How to trade in stocks” both by Jesse Livermore
    • How I made $2,000,000 in the stock market by Nicolas Darvas
    • How to make money in stocks by Willien O’Neil
